There was a big upset in the Democratic gubernatorial primary when Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley defeated State Representative Francesca Hong. Hong, a democratic socialist, went into election day with a big lead in the polls. But Crowley ended up taking the race by about three-thousand votes.
