In 2025, a Manhattan jury convicted Michael Castillero of securities fraud, wire fraud, investment-adviser fraud, and obstruction for his role in StraightPath Venture Partners, a pre-IPO fund business that raised hundreds of millions from more than 2,000 investors. Prosecutors said he hid markups and fees, concealed a prior FINRA ban, and deleted emails during an SEC probe.
