John Adair, co-owner and head brewer at Sooke Brewing Company, was terminated after a photo circulated of him working on September 30, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, in a shirt that read “Show Me The Evidence.” The brewery called the shirt offensive and the incident unacceptable, apologized for the hurt caused especially to Indigenous communities and said his views and actions do not reflect the company’s values.
