In 1974, Doris Bither, a mother of four living in Culver City, California, reported terrifying disturbances in her home, including alleged attacks by unseen beings. Her reports brought Barry Taff and Kerry Gaynor, researchers associated with UCLA’s parapsychology laboratory, into a case that would later inspire Frank De Felitta’s novel The Entity and the 1982 film adaptation.
