A pool at the edge of the desert, low walls the colour of the ground, dunes or cactus past the last sunbed. Most of it was shot in the afternoon and the rest at sunset, when the light comes in flat across the water and turns everything the colour of sand. That light is kind to matte fabric and hard on anything shiny, so the series stays matte: firm black swimsuits, forest green jersey, linen that has not been ironed and will not be.
